Almost Home

We left Wall SD this morning with the weather great. Not too hot and not too cold. We got as far as Albert Lea MN and decided we rode enough miles for one day. So close to home and yet so far. We splurged for dinner at Perkins and ate until we couldn't move. :-)
We leave for Milwaukee in the morning and I can't wait to sleep in our bed......even though tonight we got a great deal on a great room. I hagled with the desk clerk until she gave me a price I liked. LOL. 59 dollars for a big room with a king size bed, pool, hot tub and a free breakfast. Yippee!!
Milwaukee?? Here we come, ready or not!!

On Our Way Home!

We're on our way home!! We left Cody this morning after a breakfast at the resturant our friend Tims family owns, added a quart of oil to the bike and away we went. It was in the 90's again today which made the ride a tough one again. We got as far as Wall SD before we decided to find a place to sleep. We found a nice place and showered and ate and in the morning we'll head again to Milwaukee. Tim wants to make a straight ride of it. Almost 700 miles....I would like to stop somewhere and rest for the night, it's way too long for me!

We're hoping for nice weather, I can handle the heat as long as there's no rain..

So until tomorrow...

I miss and love you all!

ps..the picture was taken close to the Wyoming, South Dakota border

We Made It!!

Today started off a little chilly. We headed early to Glacier National Park. It was beautiful the parts of it I actually looked at. Most of my pictures were taken while not looking down. Tim Told me the scenery was really beautiful, so I'll trust him on that. It's undergoing a major reconstruction of the roads near the top, and we had to travel through dirt roads many with no barrier to the 3000 foot drop on the other side... To say it was scarly is putting it mildly.

After the mountain ride we headed to Helena Mt, an almost 5 hour ride. For a while there it felt like we were in the twilight zone. We'd go more than a half an hour without seeing a single car, all you saw was, cattle, horses, hills, repeat...

Tomorrow we head back to Cody, to stay the night and then head for home!

Here's a few pictures I took today, they don't do the mountains justice, they were so beautiful!

See you soon!

One More Thing

I've decided that people drive crazy in Montana. The roads are dotted with crosses that mark the spots where someone has died in a traffic accident, some area have up to 6 crosses, one for each person. Now I can see why. The speed limit is 25 for a mile or so in the middle of town here, then the roads in the rest of the city are 55mph. Crazy!!! The speed limit in the mountains is 50 or more.
I think bad drivers come to Montana when they die. The place is full of crazy drivers! Not to worry we are being extra careful!
We are having a great time and seeing so many beautiful things along the way!

Tomorrow "Going To The Sun Road"

Yup that's what the road is called. In Glacier National Park, it's high in the mountains which means I would really rather not do this. Seeing how I hate heights. Its 52 miles of winding turns in the mountains here. We're doing that in the morning then off to Helena where we are going to spend the night before heading back to Cody Wyoming for a night then off to home!

Here's a few pictures of the way into Glacier National Park..

I really do miss my family and my own bed!

Oh where, oh where has my WiFi gone?

Getting a signal anywhere during this trip has been a real chalange. We go to hotels that have it and it's down, or where so far away from the main office I can't get a signal...
Yesterday we traveled from Cody to Seeley Lake, Montana. It was an almost 9 hour ride.............yech...
We just got settled in a hotel in Kalispell, Montana, we're now going to head out to Glacier National Park, it's about 30 miles away from here. I'll update with pictures and more to write about later tonight...
This trip has been great, but I really miss my family and my own soft bed.
Until Next Time!

Thermopolis

Yesterday we took a ride to Thermopolis where they have the worlds largest hotsprings. We went to a pool that uses the water from the hot springs it's suppose to cure whatever ailes you with all the minerals it has in its water. The clouds in the picture is what we faced when we left. Not a pretty picture. We got lucky and only got drizzled on for a bit a couple of times. I was scared. Tim is much braver than me when it comes to driving in the storms.
Tomorrow we leave for the Glacier National Park. It's goes through Yellowstone into Montana and it goes along the Canadian border. If we would have thought this out and got our passports we could have gone into Canada. It's a two or three day trip though the mountains so I'm not sure if I"ll be able to do much on the laptop but I'll bring it along just in case. Soon the snow might be falling in the mountains so this might be a cold trip as well....
See you soon. Love you all.
PS Jen I hope you liked the cow ;-)

We're Here!

No update last night. The ride into Cody was really rough. Temps in the 90's with long long stretches between stops. You can be on the road for almost an hour and not pass another town or gas station. We made a water or gas stop when ever we could. We're staying with our friends Sherry and Steve out here again like last year. I'm not able to grab a wireless signal from their house so I'm sitting in Dairy Queen to update this. I'll try to find a place to update with some of the awesome picture we took coming into Cody from Rapid City...
Until next Time!

Deadwood

Today we took long ride into Deadwood, an old mining town. It was a pretty ride and the weather was great. The strong winds of the last few days has died down. I've got some assorted pictures of our ride. In South Dakota, they plant a marker when a motorist dies through neglagence. I've posted both sides of the signs. There were six of these sings in a 2 block stretch. The freeways and the roads are spotted with these where ever you go.

Tomorrow morning we are heading to Cody, or that's the plan anyway... Things can always change. ;-)

So as the sun sets tonight we bid goodbye to another day of our vacation!

Rapid City Day Two

We slept in late today trying to catch up on some sleep. After breakfast we headed to the local harley dealer to find me some new sunglasses and Tim some new knuckle gloves. We found both in Sturgis and very inexpensive. The wind was still brual today but we didn't spend much time on the freeways.

We went to the petrified forest in fact I have a picture of Tim trying to steal a petrified rock.. I think it weighed a few hundred pounds..

From there we decided to go to the Wunderland Cave, "The Fun Cave". I hated the ride it was a snaking road though the mountains, then we reached a gravel road that said 3000 yards ahead is the Wunderland Cave. The road was steep and gravel and dirt, not fun for me on the bike. The picture of the gate is what we found when we got there. 25 minute ride, and all we got was a gate...

Other than that we are having a great time, the weather has been great also...Well on to finding something for dinner.. Love and miss you all!

P.S.

Ok got my laptop conntected to the internet in our room. Once again we passed the gas station that had Lil' Sprout standing outside. This year Tim tried to steal the poor guys pizza, we were hungry but that's no excuse Timmy!! ALSO, we stopped at a gas station in the middle of nowhere and I decided to take a few shots of the place, If you look closely at the the front of the store is has an add for Budweiser beer. Check out the print next to the price of a bucket of beer,.."Bring the family home " I suppose two for each of the parents and one each for the three kids. ;-)

We spent about an hour in the outside pool here the water was so warm it felt like bath water, we both feel better now after the hot day. I'll post some more tomorrow, it's supposed to rain but we're hoping for some good weather, we want to visit the petrified forest, and tour a cave near by. Love you all!!

We're hot and worn out in Rapid City SD

Todays ride was not quite as fun as yesterdays. We battled brutle winds. temp of 91. The winds were so bad it was like driving in a wind tunel. The only reprieve was getting gas and getting into an air conditioned gas station. Out here getting gas is like bathroom breaks on the road. You go while you can and not when you have to. Gas stations can be an hour ride away so you get gas every opportunity you can. My laptop wont connect to the internet at the hotel for some reason so I can't load any pictures. I"ll work on the laptop tomorrow to try and trouble shoot the problem. We only traveled 356 miles today but they were rough miles. We're going to stay here for a few days before moving on.
I love all of you and wish you were here to enjoy the beautiful area with us,,
Until tomorrow,....

Doh!, pictues to follow tomorrow

As usual we stayed up later than we planned and as a result got a bit of a later start. We left at 9 has breakfast at PineCone Johnsons Creek and after a few stops for gas and stretching we ended up in Sioux Falls, SD around 630. We put on 500 miles today. We would have gone more but didn't get much sleep last night and decided to eat a good diner and hit the hot tub and pool for a bit and be in bed by 10 and attempt to get back on the road by 7. Out next stop for the night should be Rapid City, I would have pictures but I forgot to pack the connector for my camera to download the pics to the laptop. We have to make a Wal-Mart stop tomorrow for a wire connector for the trailer, I'm going to buy a card reader to I can post some pictures tomorrow.
So far so good. We're tired, a little sun burned but doing great!

Getting Ready

Well once again our trip started out on the wrong foot. Two days before the trip the garage door broke and we discovered the lights on the trailer were shorted out. After many attempts to fix the trailer our neighbor came over and with his help the problem was solved in a few hours. Garage door fixed also....
Today will be a day of getting ready at a relaxed pace then hit the road early Saturday morning.
